Dr. Richard H. Bensimon is a board certified plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery located in Portland, Oregon.  With over 30 years of industry experience, his work has earned him many decorations, including the Compassionate Doctor Recognition and the Patients’ Choice Award by Vitals. Dr. Bensimon is an aesthetic pioneer who has helped countless patients improve their self-image and confidence.

It is Dr. Bensimon’s mission to provide a comfortable and pleasant surgical experience from start to finish. By utilizing the most progressive techniques, he has been able to minimize post-operative discomfort, improve the duration of recovery, and increase the safety of all procedures. He performs a wide range of procedures for facial rejuvenation including facial resurfacing and neck liposuction. In facial aesthetics, Dr. Bensimon leads the industry in facial chemical resurfacing with his proprietary BensiPeel™ for the dramatic improvement of deep wrinkles and sun damage.

Dr. Bensimon completed his undergraduate education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, graduating with honors with a major in anthropology and a minor in art history. He earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor with honors in thoracic, general, and plastic surgery. He completed his full general surgical training program at the prestigious Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, followed by an in-depth, plastic surgery fellowship at the renowned Montefiore Medical Center in New York.

In recognition of his work in facial surgery, Dr. Bensimon was invited to be part of the faculty of the the Melbourne Advanced Facial Anatomy Course (MAFAC), the premiere facial anatomy course for plastic surgeons, founded by renowned Australian plastic surgeon Dr. Bryan Mendelson.  At home in the United States, Dr. Bensimon is a member of the Connell Society, a prestigious group of elite plastic surgeons from throughout the world who were trained by or have embraced the teachings of the pioneering facelift surgeon, Dr. Bruce Connell. In addition, he is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and a member of the Ghent Association for Plastic Surgery.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bensimon has been recognized for his expertise in aesthetic surgery and has been sought out as an educator in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia, and Australia. As an enthusiastic educator, Dr. Bensimon has given over 130 presentations, including master classes, cadaver workshops, and live surgery demonstrations to his colleagues around the world. He has contributed chapters in prestigious surgical texts and is a co-author of the recently released Centrofacial Rejuvenation, a state-of-the-art textbook describing surgical and nonsurgical rejuvenation of the face, and features Dr. Bensimon’s unique experience in facial chemical peeling. Dr. Bensimon is the creator of the BensiPeel™, a modern chemical peel for the dramatic improvement of facial sun damage and wrinkles.

Dr. Bensimon appreciates the vibrant music culture and quirky old theaters of Portland, Oregon. He is a downhill skier, small boat sailor, and scuba diver. Dr. Bensimon enjoys gourmet food and collecting fine wines and is pleased to live in close proximity to the great Willamette Valley, home of the finest Pinot Noir in the world.  His love for people and adventure has him interested in learning about the habits and customs of different cultures from around the world so traveling brings him great joy.
