Elisabeth Haas, MD et al. conducted a study using autologous fat transfer as a treatment for patients with thumb carpometacarpal joint osteoarthritis who hoped to postpone the need for surgery. Her study found that “autologous fat grafting is a safe procedure and provided appreciable benefit in 61 percent of studied cases 12 months postoperatively.” Access the full study below.
